Pati Shambaugh remembers her grandmother's quilts as a young child. She would ask her mother, Gay, about Grandma Helyn (who died when Gay was a child). Pati loved the Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt that Helyn made for Gay. Pati started sewing very young making dresses for her Barbie dolls. In high school she was making all of her own clothes and adding some quilting touched. By college she was designing clothing and making costumes for the theatre department. Pati received a BS from Otterbein College in Home Economics. In 1992, Gay "retired" and Pati took the shop reins. Pati had already been teaching quilting since the mid 1980's. She was already teaching a teaching a technique which she developed for the Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt that was faster then the English Paper Piecing method. Later in May 1996 it became her product called Quilt Patis TM. Followed by a line of patterns that use the Quilt PatisTM she calls "Tech-Spec©TM.
