My sewing career began when I was eight, taking apart doll clothes to see how they weremade, then making my own designs with needle and thread. Much later I became a self-taught quilter when I was pregnant with my second child. I liked quilting, but wasn't
connected to quilters until 1991when I joined a guild and quilt circle, and quilting totally
took over my life. I became a competitive quilter, winning national recognition for
several of my beauties. I love problem solving. I'm a self-made logistical engineer. You know the personality: 10 different things with 2 hours to do them, in 20 places. It can be sressful, yes, but I love that this requires creative solutions. I approach quilting the same way.
That's actually how the X-Block was born. I saw an ugly quilt...which intrigued me. I
studied it and discovered an intricate pattern of x's within the quilt. "Aha!" I took
hundreds of tiny little pieces, hand pieced them into x's and created a stunningly
beautiful quilt. The process, however, was quite difficult. So I invented a nifty rotary
cutting tool that achieves the same end: beautiful, intricate, wildly exciting quilts.....but
simple enough to make that a beginner will be happy, and creative enough to challenge
the most experienced quilt designer.
