Japanese Quilters Make a Spash at the AQS

I had the most wonderful time meeting the quilting ambassadors from Japan!  Their quilts were exquisite and the language was much less of a barrier than one might expect!  I wanted them to feel comfortable, so I had them describe their quilts in Japanese!  Although most will not understand the language, everyone will see what they mean.

We were also invited to a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony, which we also filmed!  I expect to have the stories up within this week.

The winning quilts from Paducah were amazing - as usual!  How these quilters continue to best them is amazing.  Each of the winners had won before and massive amounts of time went into each of the winning quilts.

The Best of Show was Spring of Desire created by Ted Storm-vanWeelden of 's-Gravenzande, The Netherlands whose winning quilt was inspired by a wedding handkerchief.
