Three Years Ago Today I Met Many of You for the First Time!
Today is a special day for me personally. It was three years ago today that I launched QNN at Spring Market. It was scheduled to go live at 6pm EST and it was late and I was thousands of miles from headquarters in Atlanta. John Boggs of DRG Publishing bought a bottle of champagne and toasted the dawning of a new concept in quilting information. Our first phone call came in from Russia and the quilters poured in at a rate that exceeded my wildest expectations and continued to grow. The early support we received from wonderful quilters and teachers such as Kaye Wood, Ami Simms, Fons and Porter, Nancy Zeiman, and Shar Jorgensen helped to build a wonderful network. Jodie Davis was a quick study as a host and became synonymous with the network. She was a trusted friend and a great person to run ideas past before they got launched. I had specific ideas as to how to build the network and the model of creating such networks in other areas which differed from my partners/employers at the other company. As many already know, QNN was purchased by a third party about a year ago. I wish them well. I will always enjoy a piece of their success as they could not have bought it if I did not start it! Nancy Draheim and I sat for hours on end in a 6'X9' room and connected thousands of quilters, scheduled the programming, and built the features.
After parting ways, I embarked on the journey of working my original plan, and I am happy to report it is working! Our viewer ship number increase everyday and the response to our new Marketplace has been enthusiastic. We have had the opportunity to launch several new networks (http://www.zeeltv.com/) and create communities for several other enthusiasts groups. It has been quite a journey and I thank you so much for joining me. Thank you for your continued support. I was overwhelmed with well wishers at the Paducah AQS Show last week and heard the call to "keep it free!" We always will. We are from the broadcasting world where viewers vote with their dollars to our advertisers. Just be sure to tell who sent you!
