Tammie Bowser Our good friend and guest of Quilters TV won the Japan Prize for her quilt "song" last year, and this year she will head to Japan and tour with her quilt!  Not only is Tammie's work stunning, the results are acheivable through the use of her software.  I will never forget the first time I met her at Fall Market in Houston.  She was in her booth with her quilts that looked fine up close, but were shocking the further away from them you stood.  I had never seen anything like it and now that I have made three and have three under construction, I am still amazed at the original idea.  Her grandfather roped me in with a challenge to look through a little "peephole" viewer - something that one puts in the door to see who is on the otherside without being detected.  Presto!  The picture came in clear as a bell.  Tammie's grandfather was an actor in the 70's and appeared in many television series and movies of the era.  Tammie's uncle was a photographer for Downbeat Magazine and captured some of the finest images in music history.  Tammie has had the opportunity to turn some of those images into museum-quality quilts, and has been able to support the efforts of her aunt to inspire a whole new generation through her education programs.  We have also had her daughter on a program that will air soon, and I can tell you the family legacy of great artists and inovators is safe forat least another generation!
