Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!

This year's Mother's Day is marked by two occasions.  My daughter, Katharine Grace Taylor, graduated from Guilford College, coincidentally on the 100th anniversary of my grandmother's birth.  Although my daughter never had the opportunity to meet my paternal grandmother, who had a major role is raising myself and my brother after the sudden death of our mother, I could feel her warmth at the ceremony.  Every time I walk by a mirror, I am reminded of Clara Louise Hanscomb Hall as I resemble her more and more every year.  She made some awesome quilts including the most beautiful silk and velvet crazy quilt I had ever seen (until I started going to some of the quilt shows).

It is hard to believe Katie is old enough to have graduated college and is out living on her own.  Her grandmother attended the ceremony, which was held outside on the beautiful Greensboro, North Carolina campus of Guilford College.  It seems only yesterday that I was jamming pink little toes into white socks, making her dozens of outfits from my single Butterick Busybodies pattern, and having more fun buying her clothes than I did for myself!  Can't imagine where the time went, but Katie always has something new and interesting going on, and she will end up leading some great mission somewhere, it is her calling!

Blog post

Hi Sue,
I am new to this website and was catching up on all of the past blogs when I came across your Mothers Day post.
Congratulations to you and your daughter in her recent graduation. I was struck at first as to where she graduated from. I live in NW Greensboro and pass Guilford College about 4 times a week, and it really is a gorgeous campus. We have gone to events there and just love walking thru the campus under all of those wonderful trees. Having two boys in college and two more up and coming, I find inspiration in moms who survive it all.
So far I just love this website, I cannot believe I just found it!
Keep up the great work.
