Hello from Spring Market!

Hello Quilters! We are having a great time in Pittsburgh, PA where the 2009 International Quilt Market is being held.  We have just filmed 39 new stories and have been making plans with some of quilting and sewing’s best to come on bring you new inspirations!  McKenna Ryan [1] has both a line of fabrics and a gorgeous line of patterns.  Her first quilt series had a blue heron featured in it and I simply fell in love with that quilt.  It was great to see her again and it was wonderful to talk with her about her new designs.  Jo Morton [2] also is a fabric and pattern designer who had beautiful quilts displayed and her fabric also showed up in the purses designed by the talented team at Pink Sand Beach Designs [3] - and I am hoping they will come on and share their nifty new bag patterns.  Kaffe Fassett [4] was there promoting his fabric line and working on a needlepoint rug, which was fascinating to watch - I plan to do a series with him as his work and upcoming new book fascinates me.  Lennie Honcoop [5] was there with more patterns and hot ribbon technique.  John Brady [6] was demonstrating his ruler system that makes perfect piecing a little easier and I met Martin Reece-Sullivan who make the Hang-Ups [7] that we use on the set to display quilts.  I also reconnected with some old friends at Bernina and Viking so we could have some interesting new programs develop out of those connections!  I met Maria Peagler, and author from up the road here in Georgia, and look forward to working with her on several things - she is an expert in color selection and has recently released a new book entitled Color Mastery [8].  The most fun I had however was connecting with Lonnie Rossi [9], whom I have known since the 1980's!  We both once had advertising agencies in Philadelphia, and Lonnie was known as one of the best designers in Philly then.  She is married to Kenny Rossi [10] who was one of the regular dancers on American Bandstand.  I would love to see Lonnie on QTV with a series of her own too!Elisa Wilson [11] - of Elisa's Backporch and QTV fame was wowing the crowd with her new templates and quilts to die for!  She has new books out and great new patterns too!  Working on a new series with her too!  She also helped us out with some reports from the floor, which will be up next week.  Ellen Lumpkin Brown [12] was also on hand to bring you the news and you will see her reports as well, she was at market promoting her new book too.And Cindy Walter [13] was there teaching her new technique and, of course, bringing reports from the floor.  I thank them all and you will have many more stories coming on soon, and several new series as well...stay tuned!Sue Ann
